Robocraft -A genius idea

The other day I was bored on Steam, I decided to search for a new game. I've always been the type of gamer that loves anything with the word "craft" in it; Starcraft, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, all the "craft" games are very addicting to me. So I typed "craft" into the search on Steam and Robocraft came up. I read the description and honestly was kind of skeptical about it. I waited the hour that it took to download and install and then launched it. I was worried that it would be one of those games where you only stood a chance if you bought your way to having this super impressive war machine, although it did offer real money purchases they were not things that increase your robot. There was an array of cosmetics you could buy with real money but I don't think ANY actual upgrades.

The Point Of The Game:

Well basically you build a robot, you can add wheels, different type of blocks, different guns, hover jets, thrusters, radars, all kinds of stuff and as you level you unlock even more things to add.

The builder is really simple, its a left and right click set up like Minecraft but the opposite. They give you certain blocks for free but the more advanced blocks you have to buy with the points you get from playing. You can fly by holding space and lower yourself with shift, and "Q" opens your inventory which you can also access the "Cube Depot" from. You press "R" to rotate things and to repair your robot after battling. Tab will open up a menu. Thats all the controls while you are in the garage, pretty simple.

Once you are done perfecting your death machine you go up to it and press "E" and you will be sent into battle with other players.

I have to admit that my favorite part of this game is the concept of battling. As players shoot your robot it will actually fall apart. You will lose guns, wheels, blocks, and everything else until there is nothing left. It makes the game far more interesting than if you just had a health bar and blew up when it ran out. It is a very unique idea and honestly I think it's what makes the game so great. The controls in battle are just as simple as those in the garage; "WASD" to move, left click to shoot, and right click to aim in. While in battle you will see flying vehicles, gun towers, tanks, and stealthy small robots. You can win through two methods, take out the whole enemy team or stand on the giant circle long enough to "claim" it. The battle is thrilling and it's always different.

The Graphics:

The graphics aren't aiming at a realistic type of environment but rather a sci-fi realism. They capture it well too. The ships are impressive and fun to look at and they give different shape blocks so everything doesn't have to be square. The terrain is wonderful because the vehicle is actually affected by it. For example if you drive on ice it gets much slipperier than driving on dirt. The gun graphics are incredible and the explosions from the plasma cannons give a very thrilling experience as you and the robot army beside you charge at the other teams front.

The Sound Effects:

The sad truth is that they are horrible in my opinion. They are annoying and too repetitive. Although they do represent a sci-fi environment they just aren't what I was looking for.

Overall:

I give this game a 9/10 especially due to the fact that it is free to play and there is literally no lag and no bugs that I have found so far. I recommend everyone tries this game out. Maybe I'm just a wicked geek but this game could be one of the best computer games I've played in the last 3 years.

A Step Away From Technology

I'm outraged as I get my first gulp of adulthood. I worked my first real job, got my first real bills, bought my first car, made a leap into the adult hood that I have a right to enter. I leaped into this new phase of life with a pocket full of hundreds from graduating. Quickly it was like a vacuum was hooked to the pocket which I kept those hundreds in and they were sucked out of my possession. We have become slaves to the Government, the economic aspects of life have washed us down to nothing, where a majority of our pay is given to those who are taking our freedoms and to the basic necessities of survival. A majority of Americans no longer buy things they want but only things they need.

Slavery: submission to a dominating influence
                                         -Merriam-Webster
We the people have submitted to the dominating force of the Government. Therefore we are slaves.

                                                                                                                          - List taken from NowAndFutures

This is only a partial list and I'm sure we could find more if we dug deeper. The Government literally needs to get paid for anything you do.

Like I said, I bought my very first car. I went to a wholesale used car and truck dealer a couple towns away. I found a car I liked and I had around $2600 and the salesman said "well that car is exactly $2600" so I was excited. 10 minutes later I'm asking my dad for money because after we added all the taxes and fees to the price it was $3000 and I still hadn't paid the excise tax or registration fee.

Which is another thing, registering a car was meant solely for the purpose of the cops and government to keep track of who owned which car, so shouldn't we only have to register a car when it switches owners?
The same thing happened with the fishing license, it used to be a voluntary thing, then it was a voluntary thing but they wanted $1, now it's a mandatory thing and they want $2. It's saltwater, they do not have the right to charge me to fish in the ocean. Yes, It's only $2 but the point is that the Government slowly works their way into your pocket so thy can have all of our money. Without money we are weak and it becomes much easier for them to keep us their slaves.

I don't know much about taxes and the economy yet, since I'm just now diving into adulthood but I do know that they take a lot of money from the people and I know that time are tough right now and the Government just continues to drain our wallets and purses.

Sorry for the rant about politics on a more technology based blog but it was needed, and I hope that some of you guys can add to it in the comments.

RealmOfMianite.mcpro.co

I consider myself a pretty active member of the Minecraft community. So I'd like to throw some Minecraft server reviews into my blog once in awhile. Unfortunately the first server that I'm reviewing is not going to receive a very good one.

Rating:

2/10 The short conversation I had with the owner proved he was friendly and that he really does care about his players he just lacks the skill required to build a official server.

The spawn was barely anything (seen in the picture above) and that was the only build on the server. I played around for awhile and didn't find much of anything to do. I'm still unsure what kind of server it is as the only thing I got from the owner is "I am a god". All in all it seems like it could be a decent survival server if anyone is into that. This server gets an unfair disadvantage as I am anti-survival servers. They bore me and just the thought of it makes me want to delete Minecraft off of my computer forever.

Lagdometer:

No lag at all on this server which isn't surprising because of the lack of plugins and the fact that only one player was on, I didn't get to see it really put to the test.

Conclusion:

There wasn't much to write about here as the server was bland. This is the reason for the poor rating even though this server was not a bad server. It was just not interesting and very plain. The owner was a friendly guy but he just needs to invest some more time and thought into the concept of his server.

Side-Note:

Please do not fear that I will rate your server badly, I'm just being honest here. If you would like me to review your server put the IP in the comments and I will try and get to it. I promise that I'm really not that harsh just doing honest reviews.

PS4 VS. Xbox One -A non biased view

Once again a lot of gamers are at the cross road of deciding between the newest consoles. A majority of consumers will pick which console they go drop hundred's of hard earned dollars on solely based on which "side" they are on. I recommend forgetting about the battle between Microsoft and Sony as you are at the store making your final decision and focus more on facts.

Game Selection:

The game selection for both consoles is quickly growing but it's still not a very impressive variety.

Xbox One's most notable games:

- Dead Rising
- Titanfall
- Forza 5

PS4's most notable games:

- Killzone
- Infamous Second Son

Cross-platform games:

- Call Of Duty Ghosts
- Need For Speed
- Destiny

Price:

Xbox One w/kinect: $460
Xbox One without kinect: $400
PS4: $400

Conclusion:

The decision is yours. You have been provided with the statistics that you need. In my opinion the Xbox One is the better console. They were a step ahead Sony with the Xbox 360 and they're still a step ahead of them with the Xbox One. The system is larger but a bit more powerful. The PS4 controller design is much better but the all around functionality and features are better on the Xbox One. It is also a bigger console so it'll take up more room but it will be much more durable compared to its counter part. The decision rests in your hands, either way you are getting an amazing next gen console and both have great power and outstanding graphics. It's all a matter of opinion with these two monsters of machines.

Why Android Is Better Than The iPhone -A never ending war

Sadly I traded my Android in for an iPhone 5s to "fit in". It was a big mistake in my opinion and here's why. Although the iPhone burned its path into the phone business with a far more superior phone in the beginning it has lost a lot of momentum as Android blows it away in today's market. Apple is still patting themselves on the back for their switch from a tiny 3.5 inch display to a 4 inch display while Android's 4.3 inch RAZR is considered a small phone. These large displays are great for reading text easier and immersing the consumer deeper into their videos and media. Not only are androids beating iPhone's with their larger display they also offer more functionality, such as NFC support, making sharing files much easier. Just tap the back of your phones together and boom you're sharing files. Another step ahead in the functionality department Android also offers widgets on the home screen while iPhone barely offers the ability to move your apps where you want them. Android also takes the cake in innovation, as they step into a realm of 40 megapixel cameras and water proof phones they also offer the advantage of micro-USB cables compared to the iPhone's proprietary connector. Customization is another big thing with the Android as it offers third-party keyboards and lots of other apps that will modify your phone and it's on-screen appearance. After owning both types of phones I've also come to the conclusion that Android is much more "geek friendly" as it doesn't require to be jail broken or rooted to access far more options than the iPhone could even dream off. From a developers point of view the android takes the cake as well as it is a lot cheaper to develop android apps and much easier to get them into the marketplace. In conclusion to the facts that point out Android's superiority over the iPhone I still believe that Apple will thrive as humans hate change and love to fit in (like myself).

A New Blog

If anyone has continued to follow the blog throughout its slow dismantling as I ditched the far stretched dream of becoming the next big solo indie game developer you may have noticed that the blog has been renamed and redesigned. I will no longer fill these pages with images and discussions of my failed FPS game called broken morale, but instead try to resurrect this sad deserted url with interesting stories about technology and the future.

The new name is GIWIH -Get It While It's Hot. I hope to provide the readers with lots of interesting stories about technology, new video games, futuristic concepts, and advances towards a more technological world.

The Map

Sorry that the map is taking so long to build. I can't figure out a way of doing it other than placing every block. That is a lot of blocks; 2000*2000. Anyway I just want everyone to know that this game is still in development we just have been lacking updates as for what we are working on right now is a very slow and painful progress.
